The super chargers only charge to 80% and then slow down.

To be a little more precise, when charging it is the *vehicle* that determines how much to draw (based on what the EVSE or DCFC tells it, but it is still the car that determines the current draw). So it is the *vehicle* that "slows down" the charging, not the charger itself. (Although there are DC chargers that will simply stop charging at 80%.)
