Arcimoto + Mobius Energy working on new battery w/ ultra-fast charging
Posted by: CharonPDX - 09-27-2023, 09:41 PM - Forum: In the News - Replies (2)

Direct link: KEZI - Local electric vehicle manufacturer developing new battery for faster charging

Long story short - "working on new battery for Arcimoto's current and future customers that will allow charging in only 10 minutes."

Many of these "new battery tech allows EV charging in only 3 minutes!" are unreasonable for many reasons - notably that it would require megawatt charging stations. But to fully recharge an FUV in 10 minutes? That would only take 120kW. Something tons of stations can do.

I hope they'll offer this as a reasonably-priced upgrade for existing FUVs, especially if it increases capacity/range, too. And I presume it would change the charge port to a NACS port.

  Installing backup camera
Posted by: Gratefuljer - 08-22-2023, 03:01 AM - Forum: Accessories and Mods - No Replies

Hey folks,

I’m trying to figure out the best method for mounting my backup camera. I’m curious what others have done.
Anyone open to sharing their method?

Thanks,

Jeremy

  Dead Battery
Posted by: craigunger - 08-16-2023, 05:13 AM - Forum: General Arcimoto Discussion - Replies (3)

Ok i know you are supposed to keep the FUV plugged in all the time but i went away for a month and i unplugged it.  Also i have a GPS device in there for tracking so maybe that trickled down the battery as well, but you guessed it i got home and it is totally dead.  When i plug in the charger the wall charger shows power but not charging.

Is there a way to revive this battery or do i need to replace it?
Also is there anyone who services FUV here in St Pete / Tampa Florida?

Thanks and lesson learned.
Craig

Lightbulb WINDOWS! Third-party, made by the person who designed them while working at Arcimoto

Yeah, it's FB, and I'm not really on FB any more. So I'll summarize here.

Brad Harness is a former Arcimoto employee, who was working on soft windows for the hard doors. Well, he has finalized them, and is selling them as an upgrade he performs now. Takes 3-4 hours to install, he charges $1500. You do have to get your FUV to Eugene, Oregon and back; but he is wiling to travel. I'm trying to get a group install day in Portland so he can get multiple people done in one trip. If you have hard doors and are interested, hit me up. We'll schedule a time for Brad to come use my garage for the installs. (And yes, these require you already have the hard doors - I suppose you could get them without doors, but that would be silly.)

These turn the FUV into an all-weather commuter! I'm looking at getting this done August-September timeframe, but if I get 1-2 other Portland-area folks interested, I'll schedule it around your timing.

The "framing" is rip-stop nylon (like the older soft doors) that is permanently attached to the tube framing of the FUV, plus a section of material is added to the outside of the doors at the top to snap the windows on to. The windows are durable vinyl (like soft Jeep side windows,) and snap to the door, then zip up or down. Note that the windows must be fully unzipped to open the door, and they unzip from the rear, so if you want them partly down, you expose the rearward part of the window area, then flop them over.  (Photos from the Facebook post by Joe MorganSmile

Thumbs Up Review of power steering upgrade
Posted by: CharonPDX - 05-22-2023, 01:49 AM - Forum: Accessories and Mods - No Replies

Got Cascadia back on Friday after being in Eugene for a week getting the power steering upgrade.

Definitely worth it. I could steer at low speed before, but it was an effort. Much grunting and groaning while trying to parallel park. Post-upgrade? Flawless. Turning at low speed requires basically no effort now. This isn't the Faction Systems developed "software torque vector steering" that allows for zero-speed turning by turning the "inside" wheel backward; this is conventional power steering, so when at a stop, it still takes some elbow grease to turn. But any forward movement and steering is a breeze.

So much that I almost got into trouble in the parking lot after picking it back up!

  What if you wreck it?
Posted by: Finachetto - 05-13-2023, 03:09 PM - Forum: General Arcimoto Discussion - Replies (1)

Hello all, I am considering purchasing an FUV, but its exotic nature has me worried. If my FUV becomes damaged, say some jerk driving behind me is texting and driving and rear-ends me at a stop light, causing significant damage to the FUV, how would I ever get it fixed? It wouldn't be like having a Honda, where I have no end of places to take my damaged car for repair by trained and properly equipped professionals with all the parts in inventory. With an FUV there may be nobody within hundreds of miles who could make the vehicle right again. Am I expected to rent a flatbed truck and ship the vehicle to Eugene, Oregon (and back!)?

Have any of you dealt with this, or given the issue serious thought?  Huh

Thanks, I appreciate your advice.

  Wheel Marker Blinker
Posted by: Odi - 04-02-2023, 05:54 AM - Forum: Accessories and Mods - No Replies

I've had several close calls where someone changes into the lane I'm changing into from the opposite lane, directly into my blind spot. I think the rear signal at the brake lights may be harder to notice from the side, so I wanted to have my wheel markers blink as well.

Inspired by Charlie Gray's posts on Facebook, who wired the wheel markers directly to the HMLL and HMLR gray connectors available in the Evergreen to convert them into signal lights, I looked for a way to still have the wheel markers on while not using my signal. The answer came in automotive SPDT relays, which I could use the normally closed lead to have the usual wheel marker connection, and then use the HMLL and HMLR to trigger the relay and open the connection.

One issue with this is that the hazard lights make the wheel markers blink. So I used a second relay from HMLL (and HMLR) with the normally closed connected to the first relay's trigger, and this second relay is triggered by a switch on my handlebar. If the switch is off, I get the wheel markers off when the signal is on, and the wheel markers on when the signal is off. If the switch is on, then the HMLL (and HMLR) is no longer connected to the first relay's trigger, and I have the original stock behavior.

First 15 seconds shows my new normal behavior of the wheel markers and signals alternating
0:16 is when I turn on the switch on my handlebar to restore factory behavior
Most of the video shows the FUV's factory behavior of signals and hazard lights
0:46 is when I turn off the switch on my handlebar
The last few seconds show why I needed to install the second relay to fix the hazard lights

ElectraMeccanica leaving the 3-wheel EV market.

https://ir.emvauto.com/emotion/blog-deta...fault.aspx

Between this, Aptera having some issues getting funding to start production, and Arcimoto's own financial issues; it's looking like the 3-wheeler EV market might not last much longer.  Sad

Hello,

I have a 2022 FUV, and I might need to sell it.  Is AutoTrader the best option?

I live in Mesquite, NV, and the FUV is in the garage.

Ideas?

Thanks
