  Cover for my FUV

Since my FUV has to live outside I had Salem Tent & Awning make this cover. Not cheap but it works. Contact them at sales@salemtent.com for their current price.

  Charging Problems
Posted by: bicycler1951 - 01-09-2022, 01:27 AM - Forum: General Arcimoto Discussion - Replies (6)

Today (2022-01-08) I went to plug my FUV in to charge it. It has been sitting in my driveway for about a month with not being plugged in. There was 35% charge on the battery. When I plugged it in there was no indication of a charge happening. The charger said it was charging and the relay in the FUV that "picks up" when the plug is inserted into the FUV. To test to see if my charger was working or not I drove to the nearest commercial charging station. This station said it was charging the FUV but still no charging indicator on the FUV. Sad

My Owners Guide says to contact Arcimoto when this happens. I called 3x and got disconnected 3x. So much for customer service. Huh

Yes, over-the-top subject line, sorry.

From Arcimoto - the hard-side "West Coast" half-doors are now in actual production!  Per the email:

Quote:RE: West Coast Doors for your FUV Evergreen Edition

Hello!

Good news! At long last, we have finalized the design of our West Coast Doors and just this week, we installed the very first set on a customer vehicle.

In the coming weeks, our Customer Experience team will reach out to you to book an installation appointment. We hope to have your doors installed on your FUV before the end of the year.

Thank you so much for your patience over the past two years—as an Evergreen owner, you are among our most valuable customers and we wouldn’t be here without you.

We look forward to speaking with you soon! Until then, drive safe and have fun!

Now to figure out if I want to splurge for full custom paint, or just cut vinyl on the base plastic for my design... (Right now I just have the pinstripes in vinyl - the full design is more complex.)

  Backup Beep via MP3
Posted by: Odi - 08-11-2021, 04:54 AM - Forum: Accessories and Mods - Replies (4)

I decided that FUV Dave's truck beeper would be too loud for me. Instead, I decided to use an MP3 player hooked up to my factory bluetooth speakers with an aux cable. I had to remove the black glue that they filled the aux input port with, and I cannot have my phone paired to the bluetooth speakers (bluetooth overrides aux input). I finally installed it over the weekend along with my motorcycle dvr. I also needed to put a ground loop isolator in the aux cable to reduce noise.

I bought something very similar to smile.amazon.com/dp/B0983HGS37 (the exact one I bought last October is no longer listed on Amazon). It will auto play MP3s in a TF card to aux output upon power on.

I ran a cable from the backup light socket to the front to power a 12V socket. I also put it through a switch like FUV Dave's.

I took the backup sound from usa.nissannews.com/en-US/videos/video-91ee099994c923f1d9b2638880001d98-audio-reverse-pedestrian-warning-2020-nissan-leaf and made an MP3 file of it. If I get tired of it, I can always make a new MP3 as well.

  Motorcycle DVR
Posted by: Odi - 08-11-2021, 01:19 AM - Forum: Accessories and Mods - No Replies

I purchased this Akeeyo AKY-958 Motorcycle DVR in January 2020 and finally installed it over the weekend: smile.amazon.com/dp/B07TQ5ZXZD

I mounted the rear camera in the “backup light spot” by removing the camera screw cap (that holds the ring mount in place) and using several layers of electrical tape to have it sit in the backup light rubber gasket.

These are the backup lights I had purchased in Sept 2020 and used the rubber gasket of: smile.amazon.com/dp/B07DKXMTFF

I simply attached the front camera with some binder clips and a thin rubber pad to protect the paint.

I mounted the display to the handle bar

The greatest part is the screen saver is a clock!

Bought something off Craigslist. Drove my FUV. I always wear my Arcimoto baseball cap when I drive it. Pulled up to the seller's house, parked on the curb, walked up his steps to the front door, knocked. Seller opened the door, saw my hat - "Oh, hey, an Arcimoto fan! Do you have an order for one? I have stock in them!"

Step to my side, so he can see my FUV parked at the curb behind me "Well, actually…"

First time I've seen a grown man (late 50s, early 60s) "squee!" so hard. "Can I...?.?"

"Yeah, you can go take a look."

Spent a good 15 minutes discussing Arcimoto with him. :-D

Did a second Cragislist-purchase-run later, and this person didn't have quite the same reaction, but knew what it was, and absolutely wanted to take pictures and ask questions to convince his spouse to get one. :-D

Had 9-10 people ask me about it while stopped in traffic. Got "beeps of support", thumbs-up, or similar from another dozenish people. Including a guy in a Ferrari California with the top down.

Shocked Drove the Electra Meccanica Solo yesterday…
Posted by: CharonPDX - 03-21-2021, 07:12 PM - Forum: General Arcimoto Discussion - Replies (3)

It was…… Not good.

While the vehicle *looks* great - interior and exterior, and it theoretically drives more like a car than the FUV, the actual driving experience is "bad bordering on dangerous."

It has very poor acceleration, it has *DANGEROUSLY* poor braking, cornering is "meh," and the ride is *ROUGH*.

I was expecting a much smoother car-like ride than the Arcimoto, but it's so much worse than the FUV. It's like a race-tuned Miata, but with none of the tight steering and pedal response of a race-tuned vehicle. You felt every tiny bump in the parking lot the drive was in; I can't imagine going over a speed bump or a pothole.

It's *REALLY* low to the ground - and visibility is bad. I would NOT want to drive it in traffic.

Acceleration and braking are so bad that my "Progressive Snapshot" app (which I forgot to pause) didn't register any rapid acceleration or hard braking events, even though I floored it and slammed on brakes full-force multiple times.

LOL. Just got a "have you heard of Arcimoto" unsolicited investment email.
Posted by: CharonPDX - 03-05-2021, 03:42 PM - Forum: Arcimoto Company - No Replies

Some investment/finance firm that apparently caters to the wealthy, "family foundations," and the like sent me an unsolicited email touting Arcimoto, and how they can introduce me to Mark.

I'm not sure what's worse - the fact that they're marketing to me, when I'm definitely not in their target audience; or that they're marketing to me a company I'm already fully involved with?

I don't know if I should let Arcimoto investor relations know about this unknown company shilling them; or reply back to them directly sarcastically.

Huh. And the same company just sent me another email, completely unrelated to Arcimoto. So apparently I just happened to end up on their mailing list just in time to receive their Arcimoto push.

A third EV has joined my FUV!
Posted by: CharonPDX - 02-25-2021, 03:20 AM - Forum: Photos and Videos - Replies (6)

And managed to fit three EVs in to one garage!

The Tesla Model S on the left (a 2014) is new. The Tesla and BMW have their charge ports on opposite sides, so this arrangements works well for the two of them - unfortunately to fit this way, the FUV has to be crammed way up like that, and the charge cord next to the Tesla won't reach with the Tesla there. (It will fit going directly to the FUV, though.)

Also, funny detail: all three have at least major components made in US West Coast states - the BMW i3's carbon fiber "life module" is made in Moses Lake, Washington; the FUV is of course made in Eugene, Oregon; and the Tesla is made in Fremont, California.
