Looks like Arcimoto issued its first recall at the end of last year, which is why we've hearing about the vehicles that have returned to the AMP.

The word is that the new gearboxes are a big improvement. Can't wait to try one.

Summary

Arcimoto, Inc (Arcimoto) is recalling certain 2018 FUV motorcycles. Incorrect machining of the transmission case may result in premature failure of the gearbox.

Remedy

Arcimoto has notified all affected owners and the motorcycles are within the manufacturer's control. Arcimoto will replace all potentially affected gearboxes with correctly machined and assembled gearboxes, free of charge. Owners may contact Arcimoto customer service at 1-541-683-6293. Arcimoto's number for this recall is 7F7-P4G2A-12.

Looks like Arcimoto made lemons out of this week's snowstorm lemonade and did some snow testing. Apparently it performs pretty well save for some fishtailing when the back wheel is on a rise.

So for us Oregonians we all saw we will qualify for the $2500 EV rebate right away, and there is another $2500 rebate for moderate household income levels. I checked and in my area, I unfortunately just miss out on qualifying for that rebate. Because that extra $2500 brings the FUV down to my initial target of $15k originally, it has got me thinking.

I know this question may drum up some ethical concerns, but I am just curious. It may be more trouble than it is worth, but say someone had their retired father-in-law(who qualifies on income) buy it and sell it to them, would the father in law still be able get the rebate? Does he have to own it through the end of the year or something? Does anyone know how it works exactly?

Using PlugShare's "Trip Planner," I decided to see if it thinks I could drive it home in one go.

Giving PlugShare a 100 mile range, it says I will make it home with 5 blocks of range to spare. 

So as not to show my home address, I also did it in reverse, and it shows similar range to get to the AMP:




I'll find out in a few months! (I'll be taking Highway 99W, which has a few Level 2 chargers along the route, so plenty of opportunity to charge if it doesn't look like I'll make it.)

I created some images to help see what the overall changes are to the dimensions of the Evergreen. I tried to match them up well but these may not be accurate. Evergreen is in green and the previous version is in red.  I also noticed they dropped the handhold for the back seat. Ground clearance looks a little less but that is probably from the angle the photo was taken (and my editing skills). 

Just fixed a bug causing the login window to appear improperly (or not at all) on some web browsers.
